On Sunday, the Sharjah Sports Council celebrated the conclusion of the third edition of the Sharjah – Al Hamriya Aquathlon, which witnessed great success with the participation of 210 men and women, and included various competitions that combined swimming and running for varying distances to suit every participating age group, from men and women to young men and women, as part of a series of events. The Community Sports Council encourages community groups to practice sports and spread their culture in the emirate.
The event and the crowning of the winners were attended by His Excellency Humaid Hassan Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hamriya Cultural and Sports Club, Sultan Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary General, Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Council’s Sports and Community Events Department, Ahmed Rashid Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Al Hamriya Club, and Khalid Mohammed Ahmed, Head of the Planning and Implementation Division. The results of the races were as follows:
The Super Sprint Race (swim 350 meters and run 2.5 km) for citizens, where Mohammed Al Yamahi came in first place, Rashid Al Kaabi in second place, and Hamed Al Yamahi in third place, and for female citizens, Afra Al Hungary won first place.
In the men’s open category, Jack Morales took first place, Gunhar Asi took second place, and Yannick Berdjan took third place. For women, Emil Collet won first place, Tacra Jelickman won second place, and Maria Cattaneo took third place.
In the Sprint race (swim 750 m and run 5 km) for citizens, Mohsen Hassan took first place, followed by Saif Al Samahi second, while Abdullah Al Ali took third place.
In the men’s open category, Adnan Al-Safadi won first place, Olivier Lockyer took second place, and Alexander Gorbijenko took third place. As for the women’s open category, Sanda Zadrakova won first place, Trixia Baelita took second place, and Lisa Bondareva took third place.
In the teams category, the Dubai Police Transportation Security Department team won first place, represented by the duo Hassan Al Hammadi and Ghanem Al Kharousi, while the Al Hamriya team came second, represented by the duo Ahmed Al Naqbi and Jassim Saeed, while the Dubai Police Transportation Security Department team came third, represented by the duo Saeed Al Hammadi and Khalifa Al Sabri. .
As for the Junior category for children (150 m swimming and 1.5 km running) from the 9-11 year old category, Ai Glicksman won first place, Marwan Al-Hedini took second place, and Moaz Hassan took third place, and in the boys’ category for ages 5-8 years, Jakari McCann won first place. In the same category for girls, Sanaa Hassan won first place, and participant Nour, who has special needs, was honored for her active participation in the event.
The event was characterized by the participation and enthusiasm of various segments of society in the races, achieved its desired goals, and enhanced the social aspect of practicing sports as a culture and a way of life, especially since swimming and running are among the most popular sports and support fitness for most ages, with the Council being keen to choose various places to hold community events to contribute Also in the promotional aspect of tourism in various wonderful cities of the emirate, including Al Hamriyah Beach, which is considered one of the best family destinations and includes multiple service facilities, and is also suitable for people of determination.
Several entities and institutions contributed to the success of the third edition of the event, including the Emirates Triathlon Federation, the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, the Municipality of the city of Hamriyah, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, which provided free examinations, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, the Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, and Bee’ah Company. The Sharjah Voluntary Work Center, the Sharjah Triathlon Team, Al Qudra Sports Services Company, and Infinity Gym, which supervised the warm-up for the participants, in addition to some sports activities.
