Successes, Challenges, and Breakthroughs in Health Transformation in Metro City

METRO – Head of the Metro City Health Service, Eko Hendro Saputra, conveyed the six pillars of health system transformation, at the Lampung Province Regional Development Coordination Meeting.

In the meeting held by the Directorate of Primary Health Services, Directorate of Health Services of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Eko Hendro, who was asked to be a resource person, delivered material on Successes, Challenges and Breakthroughs in the Implementation of the 6 pillars of health transformation in Metro Cities. “The appointment of this resource person is because the Metro City Health Service is one of the district/city health offices in Lampung, which has made breakthroughs in implementing the 6 pillars of health transformation,” said Eko Hendro Saputra, last weekend.

Furthermore, he explained, the first pillar is the transformation of primary services, where community health centers and posyandu have a role in keeping people healthy. “The Metro City Health Office is working on 22 pilot posyandu integration of primary services in each sub-district, with the implementation of the life cycle as a platform for integration of health services, as well as a platform for strengthening promotion and prevention,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the second pillar is the transformation of referral services, where Metro City already has RSU Ahmad Yani, as a regional referral hospital in Lampung Province, with 75 percent of patients coming from outside Metro City.

Then, the third pillar, namely the transformation of the health resilience system. In this phase, the Metro City Health Office is always seeking vaccine availability. “Implementation of basic immunization coverage as of September 2023 has reached 76 percent of the national target,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the fourth pillar, namely the transformation of the health financing system, where the Metro City Health Office has achieved 100 percent Universal Health Coverage. “In the fifth pillar, namely the transformation of health human resources, with partnerships and facilitation in the form of a memorandum of agreement and efforts to fulfill 9 types of health workers according to standards in community health centers, by recruiting BLUD staff,” he explained.

Finally, the sixth pillar, namely the transformation of health technology. One implementation of technology in the health sector is the development of public health applications. “With the integrated application, it has the benefit of early detection of obstetric specialist health emergencies. “This is to prevent three delays, namely being late regarding danger, being late in referring, and being late in getting quick help at the referral place,” he said.
