John Paul DeJoria is the founder of hair care company John Paul Mitchell System and manufacturer of Tequila Patron Spirits Company.
His persistence to succeed helped turn his start-up capital from $700 into the billion-dollar business it is today. Meanwhile, according to the latest Forbes data, the wealth of this 77-year-old billionaire was recorded at USD 2.7 billion or equivalent to Rp. 38.89 trillion.

John Paul DeJoria was raised by a single mother in Los Angeles before finally being put into foster care because he was no longer able to provide a living. When he was over the age limit, DeJoria became homeless because he had no place to live.
Nevertheless, DeJoria sees his economic downturn as an opportunity to work hard. When he has no money to eat, he sells Christmas cards. When he couldn’t go to college because he couldn’t pay, he sold encyclopedias. He never depended on others.
“If you’re expecting a free lunch to come, you won’t go far and you’ll be very bored. Go and do something,” he said, quoted by NBC News, Sunday (8/8/2021).
