“Usually, these internships are intended for students of 3 who return in second, underlines Justine Guillard, assistant principal of the Lycée Lillantais. This time it’s different. We offer them to the second and first classes of our high school. Due to the hybrid education last year linked to the health crisis, the students may have encountered difficulties or be worried about the situation. It was therefore important for us to be able to offer them this tool, because they need to regain their self-confidence. “
Volunteer teachers
About thirty students have therefore registered, and are taking courses given by volunteer teachers in physics, chemistry, life sciences, maths, Spanish or even management science. “They work in small groups of around ten people and follow four-day courses until Tuesday,” continues Justine Guillard.
In a classroom, students are working on physics exercises. And even if some admit that “it’s a little weird to be the only ones in high school”, all are happy to be able to return to classes sooner than expected.

Maëlou, in second, had dropped off a bit at the end of last year, with a slight drop in average in certain subjects. “I think I had a difficult second year, like many, with confinements,” she explains. These internships allow us to get back into the mix, and it’s more effective than working alone at home. I want to give myself the means to succeed. Knowing that I was going to do this internship before the start of the school year allowed me to have a more serene vacation. “
Volunteer teachers also see great benefits. “We adapt to their request on program points,” underline M’hamed Behillil and Carole Mondonnet, physics and chemistry teachers. This allows them to progress well, because it is a bit à la carte. All levels are present and we felt a strong demand from them. The ritual side of going to class was a bit broken last year and we have to get back into it. “
It is also a little more relaxed moment, without the pressure of the notes, which allows everyone a smooth recovery …
