The 43rd National Sports Festival for the Disabled was held in Jeollanam-do for six days from November 3 to 8. This competition proceeded smoothly, with a total of 31 events divided into athletes and hobbyists by type of disability.
The Gimpo City team, which represented Gyeonggi Province in this competition, participated in a total of 5 sports (taekwondo, archery, horseback riding, table tennis, and soccer), and among them, Taekwondo athlete Lee Hak-seong (pictured) and horseback riding athlete Jun-ho Heo won gold medals. It served as an opportunity to raise the status of sports for the disabled in Gimpo City.
In particular, Taekwondo player Lee Hak-seong won gold medals in the individual sparring event and team event, winning two gold medals in the competition. He also enjoyed great honors by winning an additional bronze medal in the Poomsae team event. Taekwondo coach Kim Hong-gon’s leadership also shined even more.
Heo Jun-ho, who participated in the horseback riding and dressage competitions, was also extremely happy to win a gold medal and receive a great reward for his hard training and efforts. In addition, Kim Min-jae, who participated in the archery recurve duo, won a valuable bronze medal despite poor weather, while Yoo Seung-jun and soccer player Park Ji-hoon, who participated in the table tennis event, performed well but unfortunately failed to win a medal.
As a result, the Gimpo City team won a total of 5 medals, including 3 gold medals and 2 bronze medals, at the 43rd National Sports Competition for the Disabled, ending the competition with more gold medals than the previous competition. The Gimpo City Sports Association for the Disabled will encourage athletes who achieved excellent results at the 43rd National Sports Competition for the Disabled and raised the status of sports for the disabled in Gimpo City, and will provide rewards at a later date.
