Subway fares in Seoul and other metropolitan areas will increase by 150 won starting from the first train on Saturday.

The basic adult fare changes from 1,250 won to 1,400 won.

A single ticket also costs 1,500 won, an increase of 150 won.

Fees for teenagers and children will also be adjusted to 800 won and 500 won, respectively, an increase of 80 won and 50 won.

For the Shinbundang Line operated by a private company, the fare will increase by up to 450 won.

This is the first subway fare increase in eight years since 2015.

Initially, we planned to raise the price by 300 won, but considering the burden of rising prices, we only increased it by 150 won this time.

We plan to increase it by an additional 150 won next year.

Public transportation fares in the metropolitan area have risen steadily this year.

Taxi fares in Seoul rose by 1,000 won in February and in Gyeonggi-do in July.

Bus fares also increased by 300 to 400 won last July.

For this reason, the Climate Companion Card promoted by Seoul City is attracting attention.

The Climate Companion Card, which will be introduced on a pilot basis from January next year, is a transportation card that allows unlimited use of buses, subways, and Ttareungi within Seoul for 65,000 won per month.

Seoul City is in discussions with Gyeonggi-do and Incheon City to expand the Climate Companion Card to the metropolitan area.

However, it seems difficult for Gyeonggi Province and Incheon to decide to participate immediately due to financial burden.
