(NEWS NOW) .- An alternate from several public schools in Littleton and Englewood was arrested in one of them for producing child pornography.
José Tamayo, 25, was cautioned this Friday and is accused of the sexual exploitation of a minor, a serious crime.
According to Littleton Public Schools Superintendent Brian Ewert, the inmate was teaching a group of third-graders today when they came to arrest him, although he later made it clear in a letter that the arrest was discreet and on the outside. reiterating that they did not provide the students with any information on the matter.
He also assured that the teacher has already been removed from his list of alternates.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said “investigators have no reason to believe that any of his victims were students” of the aforementioned districts.
Local station KDVR explained that the investigation began after authorities received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, accusing Tamayo of uploading child pornography material to the Snapchat platform using the username “freakygurls420”, for example. , suggesting that it was a girl or a young woman.
The subject, who passed the background check carried out before entering the school system in 2021, remains in custody at the Arapahoe County jail and had a hearing scheduled for this Saturday.
