Subsidiaries Burn Documents During KPK Search, Head of District: That’s the wrong moment

AMBON,KOMPAS.com – Head of the Department of Public Housing and Urban Settlement Areas AmbonRustam Simanjuntak denied that one of his staff burned documents related to the investigation into the bribery case of the Mayor of Ambon, Richard Louhenapessy.

According to Rustam, the document burned by Ola Riupassa, who is the Head of the Slum Area Section, is only a file detailing the activities in the 2022 budget filling list (DPA).

“What was burned were the details of the 2022 activities, which have been clarified to the KPK investigators,” Rustam told reporters at the Ambon City DPRD office, Wednesday (18/5/2022).

Ola is known to have burned a number of documents in the bathroom at the Ambon mayor’s office when KPK investigators were searching the office on Tuesday (17/5/2022).

Ola’s action was caught by the KPK team when they came down from the third floor of the office and saw smoke coming out of the bathroom.

Rustam admitted that he did not know for sure the reason why Ola burned the document. But from Ola’s confession, the document was burned in the bathroom because the trash can was full.

“Well that (the reason) I don’t know. But Ola said the trash can was full, I didn’t see it was there (the bathroom),” he said.

Even so, Rustam admitted that the moment Ola burned the document was not right because it coincided with the KPK search.

“Well, it’s going to be the wrong time and moment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ola admitted that the documents that were burned in the bathroom were piles of files detailing the activities for 2022.

Ola has clarified this to the KPK investigators who at that time carried out the search.

“That’s katong (our) recap from DPA. I have explained that to them,” he said.
