Subject steals belongings of Herediano players in Pachuca hotel

Pachuca, Hgo. A 73-year-old man identified with the initials JJVA, was arrested by elements of the Municipal Police of Pachuca after being accused of having entered the rooms of the hotel where the players of the Herediano soccer team of Costa Rica are staying. where he stole various objects.

The soccer team is visiting Hidalgo where they will hold a meeting with the Tuzos del Pachuca Club.

According to the representatives of Herediano, the players were allegedly victims of a robbery by the detainee who, by tricking the reception staff, entered their rooms at a hotel located on Bulevar Río de las Avenidas in the capital of Hidalgo.

The robbery was committed when the team left for training at the Hidalgo stadium on Tuesday afternoon, prior to the match corresponding to the quarterfinals that they will play this Wednesday against the Tuzos de Pachuca in a tournament of the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean Soccer (Concacaf).

The Pachuca Public Security Secretariat reported that according to Concacaf representatives, the individual has already committed robberies against soccer teams on several occasions posing as a member of Liga MX or that same confederation.

The individual’s modus operandi to perpetrate the robberies was that he appeared at the hotel reception at the time of the players’ training.

After posing as part of the technical team, he said that he had forgotten the keys to the rooms in the stadiums, so he asked those in charge at the reception to give him the copies so he could access the rooms.

Although there have already been similar robberies in other places such as Guanajuato, Tlaxcala and Mexico City, it is being investigated whether the detainee is involved.

After being captured, the elements of the Pachuca Municipal Police placed him at the disposal of the corresponding authorities.

In early March, the Hidalgo Hotel and Motel Association reported that in recent months it had detected people posing as representatives of soccer teams or musical groups to circumvent security and try to gain access to guests’ belongings.
