Subaru unveiled the STI E-RA concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is powered by four engines that produce 1,088 hp.
The star of the Japanese stand in the Japanese capital was developed in collaboration with the famous motorsport division Subaru Tecnica International.
Subaru STI E-RA targets record at Nurburgring
The EI RA (nn – Electric Record Attempt) concept is powered by four motors, positioned next to each of the four wheels. Thus, the zero-emission vehicle uses a complex torque vectoring technology on both axles.
The engines developed and supplied by Yamaha generate a total power of 800 kW, ie 1,088 horsepower. They are powered by a lithium-ion battery, which has a capacity of 60 kWh.
From an aesthetic point of view, STI E-RA Concept displays a very aggressive look, which does not differ from that of racing prototypes. At the front there are headlights with LED daytime running lights in the shape of the letter C, a pronounced splitter and openings on the front wheel arches for extra aerodynamics.
There is also a huge air intake on the hood and the STI logo illuminated in red. At the back we find a massive rear spoiler and an oversized speaker on which the same STI logo was mounted.
The ones from Subaru will test their new concept on the Japanese circuit. Then there will be a series of tests on the legendary circuit Nurburgring Nordschleife. The ultimate goal is for the new E-RA TSI to try to cover all the 20.8 kilometers of a circuit tour in “green hell” in less than 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
The representatives of the Asian brand say that the E-RA TSI will help them to get information about the new technologies. In a CO2-neutral era, this will be possible by participating in the new FIA E-GT competition.
