The new generation of the WRX will be unveiled on August 19 during the New York Motor Show.

The carmaker Subaru reportedly planned to officially introduce the new generation of WRX last year, but due to the pandemic, it had to reconsider its plans. Today, however, the carmaker announced that the official premiere will take place on August 19 during the New York Motor Show. For enthusiasts from other parts of the world, an online broadcast is to be prepared, but no one has mentioned the time of the premiere yet.
However, it is worth mentioning two short videos that the carmaker has placed on its social networks in recent hours. Both offer a detailed view of some parts of the exterior and, in addition, one glimpse into the cabin.

The carmaker showed us only a tachometer, but the marked red field is worth attention from about 6,000 – 6,100 revolutions, while the last generation started around 6,700 revolutions. However, nothing is said about the engine itself in any video.
However, the shorter video offers a relatively detailed view of the rear of the car, including a decent spoiler on the trunk lid and lights. A longer video captures the car while driving on a desert plain, yet offers a number of interesting details. For example, there is a view of the rear bumper with part of the exhaust system and a fog lamp located in the middle in the middle, a view of the wheels, the wheel arches and part of the front bumper.

One of the interesting things about the car in the shots is the relatively rich plastic coating, which is reminiscent of modern crossovers and cars in the SUV segment. In addition to the plastic-coated front and rear bumpers, the carmaker also plasticized the wheel arches, which is quite special for the WRX. However, a similar design style was already revealed by the Subaru Viziv Performance concept.
Recall that according to the latest speculation, a supercharged 2.4-liter flat four-cylinder Subaru FA24 should be stored under the hood of the new generation Subaru WRX. The carmaker now uses it for Ascent, Outback or Legacy models, tuned to 260 horses.

According to the latest speculations, however, this motorization under the hood of the BRZ could offer up to 300 horses, or 350 horses in the STI version. However, so far it is only speculation. However, we are also curious about the offer of gearboxes – according to some reports, the basic WRX should only receive CVT, while the manual could be reserved only for STI.
The August premiere will definitely be worth attention, but the question is whether the WRX will reach the old continent.
