While it seemed like the problems with the wheels falling off were over, Subaru recently announced a new recall. Owners are advised not to drive the car until the fault is fixed.
Subaru and Toyota teamed up to create the new electric car, which Toyota called the bZ4x and Subaru called it the Solterra. Unfortunately, this electric car has been plagued by a few pre-release woes, which are described in this article. One of them is the wheels falling off. Although the issue appeared to have been resolved, Subaru recently announced a new recall due to the possibility that the wheels could fall off while driving.
This recall, how ziņo Car and Driver covers just over 1,000 models with a production date of 2023 that have had their wheels fitted by a specific sub-company. Subaru says that cars assembled by itself or by other sub-companies are not being recalled because they have not been observed to have the problem. No word on whether this problem is also present in the Toyota bZ4x.
The fix sounds pretty simple. Subaru says no one should drive these Solterras because of the possibility of the wheels falling off. Instead, Solterra owners should call their local dealer to have it serviced and checked and, if necessary, have the hub bolts torqued to the correct specifications. Subaru will bear the cost of delivery and repair.
According to the description of the recall, it does not seem that similar problems are to be expected for the models intended for the European market, but it is necessary to check once and for all that the wheels would not be bad if properly bolted.
