Sub-district head in Payakumbuh removed after making videos a la Citayam Fashion Week

PADANG, KOMPAS.com – Payakumbuh sub-district head East, Payakumbuh City, West Sumatra, Dewi Novita, was removed from her position after creating and uploading video content in the style of Citayam Fashion Week on his social media account.

Dewi was removed from her position as Head of East Payakumbuh sub-district starting Friday (5/8/2022) and rotated as Secretary of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

Dewi explained that she deliberately made the video to inspire young people to be creative.

“It aims to make young people able to increase their creativity. I don’t know why it ended up becoming a problem,” said Dewi who was contacted by Kompas.com, Monday (8/8/2022).

Dewi said the video was made at Simpang Benteng, without an event.

“It’s just me who is in the style of Citayam Fashion Week. There is no event,” said Dewi.

Dewi doesn’t know why it finally became a problem so she was removed.

According to Dewi, there was a comment from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Payakumbuh who considered her dress to violate the norms of decency.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong. It’s polite and it aims to increase the creativity of young people,” said Dewi.

However, Dewi was pleased with the decision.

“This is the leadership’s decision and I accept it,” said Dewi.

Meanwhile, the Payakumbuh Regional Secretary, Rida Ananda, confirmed that the East Payakumbuh sub-district head, Dewi Novita, was transferred to the Payakumbuh Satpol PP Secretary.

“That’s right, he has been transferred to the Payakumbuh Satpol PP Secretary. This is a mutation and is common in the wheels of government,” said Rida.
