Suárez scores Gremio farewell: “Fate will show where I will be in the future”

26 League scorers

Center forward Luis Suárez scored in his last game for Brazilian first division club Grêmio Porto Alegre and then spoke about his future. The 36-year-old Uruguayan’s contract expires at the end of the year; he was most recently linked to the MLS club Inter Miami.

In Grêmios’ 1-0 win against Vasco da Gama, the right-footer scored his 26th goal in the 32nd league game of the current season. “Next year I won’t be able to bring to Grêmio what is expected of me because of the intensity of Brazilian football,” Suárez had already announced his departure in the summer.

“I can feel the pain, my body speaks for me. I want to enjoy it now and then decide what I want after a long career,” explained the 138-time national player (quoted via Fabrizio Romano) so. He wants to rest in the coming weeks until the end of the year and spend a lot of time with his family, “then fate will know where I will be in the future.”

How “ESPN“Recently reported that Suárez is said to have already agreed on a move with Inter Miami. The attacker’s market value, which was once valued at 90 million euros, had recently fallen to 4 million euros due to his age. At the MLS club, where alongside ex-teammate Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, two other former companions are in the squad, Suárez would be one of the most highly valued professionals. Suárez earned 125.5 million euros in transfer fees in his career and was active in Europe from 2007 to 2022 in the Eredivisie, the Premier League and LaLiga. For the longest time in his career he was on the pitch with Messi at Barça.
