Suárez helps Uruguay to win big against Colombia in World Cup qualification | NOW

Luis Suárez helped Uruguay to a victory in the South American World Cup qualifying series on Friday. The Atlético Madrid attacker made the second goal in Barranquilla in the away match against Colombia, won 0-3.

Edinson Cavani opened the score after five minutes with a slider in the right corner. Early in the second half, the ball hit the spot after a foul by Jeison Murillo on Rodrigo Bentancur, after which Suárez used the penalty decisively.

More than fifteen minutes before time, substitute Darwin Núñez expanded the lead further. The attacker passed David Ospina with a nice long shot. Colombia ended the game with ten men by a second yellow card for Yerry Mina in injury time.

Thanks to the victory, Uruguay is on six points after three duels. Colombia collected four points in the first three games.

The first four countries in the South American group of ten qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. The number five of the qualifying series will compete in an intercontinental play-off for a ticket to the tournament in the winter of 2022.

In the night from Friday to Saturday (Dutch time), two more World Cup qualifying matches are scheduled in South America. Brazil receives Venezuela in São Paulo and Chile plays against Peru in Santiago.
