Su Chi, leader of Myanmar’s military junta, has reduced his prison sentence

Media reports have also reduced former Myanmar President Vin Mintint from four to two years in prison.

He was also convicted of inciting unrest against the army and violating Covid-19 restrictions.
The junta also said the two convicted politicians would face house arrest.

Su Chi, 76, was detained after the army generals seized power and overthrew the civilian government on February 1.

The junta then charged the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize with various charges, including violating the colonial law on state criticism. Su Chi has also been accused of corruption and falsifying election results.

Journalists have been denied access to special court hearings, and Su Chi’s lawyers have recently been banned from speaking to the media.

Since the military junta seized power in Myanmar in early February, more than 1,300 people have been killed and more than 10,000 activists detained by local human rights defenders in the crackdown on protests.
