Styrian State Politicians Return from Winter Break with Message of Optimism

The winter break for Styrian state politicians is finally over. On Tuesday, Governor Christopher Drexler and Vice-LH Anton Lang invited people to a reception at lunchtime in the auditorium of the Old University. There we exchanged ideas with representatives of the federal authorities and state departments, the consular corps, educational institutions, religious communities, chambers and interest groups. From the political side, the President of the State Parliament, Gabriele Kolar, and the 3rd President of the State Parliament, Gerald Deutschmann, were there, as were all members of the state government.

Precisely because of the “gloomy situation and mood” globally, LH Drexler wanted to counter this in his speech. “There is no place for hopelessness and depression.” It is important to signal confidence and radiate optimism – “not with a naive lightness, but with deep responsibility and recognition of the problems”.

The traditional reception for media professionals is on the program in the evening. Those in attendance included Gottfried Bichler, Thomas Axmann and Michael Fischeneder from “Antenne Steiermark”, Hubert Patterer and Oliver Pokorny from “Kleine Zeitung”, ORF regional director Gerhard Koch and Jörg and Gerald Schwaiger from “Steirerkrone”. All the chairmen of the state parliament clubs – Claudia Klimt-Weithaler, Mario Kunasek, Barbara Riener, Hannes Schwarz, Niko Swatek and Sandra Krautwaschl – were on the guest list.
