During 2021, colleague Geir tested FreeBuds 4i with very good results. Now this headphone gets a successor in the FreeBuds 5i. The new headphone continues a number of functions from its predecessors in the FreeBud series, such as various noise reduction and EQ modes, as well as the ability to connect two devices at the same time.
The charging case should resemble a stone, stylish and simple. In addition to black and white, the headphones are also available in a shade of blue, which Huawei has called Isle Blue. The headphones are 7 mm shorter than the FreeBuds 4i and thus also slightly lighter. 4.9 g compared to the previous 5.5 g.

With Hi-Res Audio Wireless (Hi-Res) certification, Huawei promises a high-resolution music experience. It uses powerful hardware, algorithms, LDAC HD audio codecs and multi-EQ modes to transmit and play HD audio. Together, these functions ensure that the original sound is always reproduced authentically. There are also multi-EQ effects that allow you to adjust the listening experience to suit your personal preferences.
FreeBuds 5i is equipped with hybrid noise reduction technology. According to Huawei, these are dual microphones, which not only detect ambient noise, but also pick up noise in the ear canal. This should provide deep noise reduction of up to 42 dB and effectively block high-frequency noise.
For phone calls, new AI noise reduction features will be able to enhance your voice using AI neural network algorithms.
With a fully charged case, the battery life of the Huawei FreeBuds 5i is 28 hours. If you need a fast charge, you should be able to get four hours of audio playback from a 15-minute charge.
