Three players Indonesian U-20 National Team Marselino FerdinandMuhammad Ferarri, and Ronaldo Kwateh are not guaranteed Shin Tae Yong included in the squad for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup and the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
Shin might have taken this policy because the two of them never joined the Indonesia U-20 training camp in Field A, Senayan, Jakarta. This is considered to interfere with preparation.
Marcelino has not been able to join Garuda Muda because he is still in Belgium. PSSI’s letter to KMSK Deinze regarding the request to release Marselino has not yet been replied to by the Belgian second caste club.
As for Ferrari, Persija Jakarta has never let go. Out of a total of nine Persija players summoned by Shin, only Ferrari remained who had not been released. One other Persija player, Cahya Supriyadi came and went. Meanwhile, Ronaldo Kwateh will reportedly join Friday (17/2).
With the current situation, Marselino and Ferrari will almost certainly not appear in the mini-tournament. The mini-tournament will take place February 17-22 against New Zealand, Fiji and Guatemala.
If that happened, Shin planned to cross out the two names. This is none other than because the maximum number of players to be registered for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup is a maximum of 23 players. Shin didn’t want to wait any longer.
“So that’s not certain either, I also don’t know for sure whether Marselino and Ferrari will join or not because until now, there hasn’t been any answer from their respective clubs,” he said
“If that’s the way it is, I also have to consider us preparing for this U-20 World Cup without Marselino, Ronaldo and Ferrari,” said Shin emphasized.
Shin stressed that he needed serious preparation for the Asian Cup and the U-20 World Cup because he would meet other countries with better rankings.
The South Korean coach also hopes that the club can contribute by releasing players in the interests of the country.
“We have a FIFA ranking of 150. And even in Southeast Asia, we are not the best team at the moment. This means that we practice every day, how long we practice, actually there are still many shortcomings for our organization,” said Shin.
“But if Persija always doesn’t want to give up players and selfishly they want their own achievements. So they don’t let players go,” said the coach from South Korea on Wednesday (15/2) afternoon.
