Coach Indonesian U-20 National Team Shin Tae Yong acknowledged the crisis of the mainstay players ahead of the match against Guatemala U-20 in the final game of the mini-tournament, Tuesday (21/2).
STY is wary of Guatemala U-20’s impressive track record in the mini tournament which was held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) Jakarta, since last Friday (17/2). Guatemala packed two wins against New Zealand and Fiji with identical 3-1 wins.
“Guatemala has won twice but I will prepare everything well so I can get the win,” said STY, Monday (21/2).
The coach from South Korea said there were difficulties ahead of the opponent from the Central American representative. He hinted there are many players who are less fit.
“It’s a shame for starting [eleven] still less 6-7 players. But I will prepare with the rest of the players how to make a good starting list and reserves,” he said.
One of the preparations made by the 52-year-old tactician is the defensive pattern. He deliberately trained his men on special tactics to stem attacks in defense.
“Our defense was wrong, as well as when we conceded the first goal [lawan Selandia Baru]position [Alfriyanto] Nico’s not good. So I emphasize why we can be pessimistic and concede goals,” he said.
“Honestly there is not much time to prepare against Guatemala. But we focus on ourselves so we can reduce mistakes like that finishing so you can have a good match. That’s what the players say,” he continued.
