Fast-paced, high-scoring, entertaining: In front of 1000 spectators, Stuttgarter Kickers, who have been promoted to the regional league, beat last year’s third division runners-up SC Freiburg II 4-2 after a strong performance in the friendly.

Before the friendly of regional league promoted Stuttgarter Kickers against last year’s third division runners-up SC Freiburg II, Marcel Schmidts had signed a two-year contract with the Blues. Even without the 29-year-old winger (most recently SSV Ulm 1846), coach Mustafa Ünal’s team won 4:2 (2:1) against the guest from Breisgau in 4×25 minutes. “It was fun to play here again in front of so many spectators, it was a very intense test match that I’m very happy with. We don’t want to overestimate the result,” said Ünal.

Striker David Braig (7th) gave the Kickers the lead in front of 1,000 spectators at the Gazi Stadium. Former VfB professional Hamadi Al Ghaddioui equalized (23′). Seven minutes later, the home team played quickly and combined well: Captain Kevin Dicklhuber took his measurements and scored to make it 2-1 (30th).
After the break, substitute Loris Maier increased the lead to 3:1 (53rd) in an entertaining preparatory game. Ruben Müller brought coach Thomas Stamm’s away team to 2:3 (57th), ten minutes later Loris Maier increased it again to 4:2 with a nice 18m shot.
Among the spectators in the Gazi Stadium was Christian Neidhart, the coach of regional league opponents Kickers Offenbach (4 August, 8 p.m.). One thing is certain: he will certainly not underestimate the newcomer after this courageous performance.
