Lately, the James Webb Space Telescope has been taking pictures of all sorts of exciting cosmic bodies, and the latest in the series is an image of the spiral galaxy M51, which frankly looks too sci-fi to be real.
The image highlights the colors found throughout the galaxy, showing the twisting spiral formation that almost appears as an optical illusion, as if you’re staring down a galactic tunnel.
According to European Space Agency the description of the image is as follows: “A large spiral galaxy takes up the entire image. The core is mostly luminous white, but there are also swirling, detailed structures that resemble water circling a drain. There is white and light blue light coming from stars and dust in the center of the core , but it is strongly confined to the core. The rings have deep red and orange colors and highlight filaments of dust around hollow, black bubbles.”
Take a look at the galaxy image below and let us know what you think of the eye-catching image.
