Stuhr Council Chamber Cinema Screenings and Cultural Events: April and May Highlights

Cinema screenings in the Stuhr council chamber are becoming increasingly popular. The municipality of Stuhr has therefore included two films in the cultural program in April and May. Citizens can also look forward to the Bremen Coffee House Orchestra, an exhibition opening and two district festivals.

“Sophia, death and me”

In collaboration with “Dorfkino simply feasible”, the community of Stuhr is showing the film “Sophia, Death and I” on Tuesday, April 9th. According to the announcement, it is a mixture of comedy and drama, based on the debut novel by Thees Uhlmann. The film, released in 2023, is about Reiner (played by Dimitrij Schaad), who has had a sleepless night when his doorbell suddenly rings. Standing in front of the door is Morten de Sarg (Marc Hosemann), who is actually the death of him, but somehow doesn’t manage to finally let Reiner leave his life. A short time later, Reiner’s ex-girlfriend Sophia (Anna Maria bother) shows up. The film starts at 7.30 p.m. in the Stuhr Town Hall, Blockener Straße 6. Entry costs five euros, reservations are not possible.

Varrel district festival

The celebrations for “50 years of the Stuhr community” will continue on Sunday, April 21st, in Varrel. The festival takes place at Gut Varrel from 10 a.m. In the morning, the Musikfreunde Stuhr will be represented with brass music, the TuS Varrel line dance group will present a sports performance and the Reckeweg music school will offer a guitar crash course. The Brinkum shanty choir performs and the Bremen musicians provide brass music at lunchtime. In the afternoon we continue with dancing, a fashion show and a performance by the youth band Reflexxion. Visitors can also become musically active themselves at a “Singing for All with All”. The festival concludes with the Sundown Skifflers concert from 5 p.m. Four hot air balloon flights will be raffled off during the district festival. Admission is free.

Exhibition “Monologue”

The final exhibition of the 61st scholarship holder Hae Kim will open at the Künstlerstätte Heiligenrode on Saturday, May 4th. It is entitled “Monologue” and, according to the announcement, presents the results of his routine, meditative working method, which he has been following for ten years.

“He reads his collected printed matter such as books, catalogs and magazines completely and then sands down every single page, including the spines and covers. He uses the sanding dust

“again to produce letter stamps and return them to a useful cycle,” explains Stuhr’s cultural coordinator Frauke Wulf. For Hae Kim, the process of grinding is like painting for other artists. The vernissage begins at 3 p.m., after which the exhibition will run until Shown June 1. Opening hours: Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bremen Coffee House Orchestra

On Sunday, May 5th, the Bremen Coffee House Orchestra will present songs by the Beatles in the Stuhr town hall under the motto “Come together”. The concert starts at 3:30 p.m. As early as 2023, the orchestra in Stuhr showed how wonderfully coffee house music can be combined with the popular Beatles songs. The now expanded program includes 25 pieces. Klaus Fischer guides you through the program with sometimes serious, sometimes amusing background information. Entry costs 20 euros, reduced hours are 6 p.m. Tickets are available at all Nordwest Ticket ticket offices, including the WESER-KURIER offices (for example in Brinkum, Bassumer Straße 6a). You can order by phone at 04 21 / 36 36 36, reservations for the box office can be made by email to kultur@stuhr.de.

“In the taxi with Madeleine”

Another film on Tuesday, May 14th is the comedy or drama “In the Taxi with Madeleine” – starting again at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall. The French film, which was only released in 2022, is about 92-year-old Madeleine, who calls a taxi to get to the retirement home where she will live from now on. Ask beforehand

However, she asks the taxi driver Charles to drive past the places that have played a role in her life in order to see her one last time. The event will again take place in collaboration with “Dorfkino simply feasible”. Tickets, priced at five euros, are only available at the box office; reservations are not possible.
