In Bremen comparatively more people study without a high school diploma than the national average. In 2020, there were 246 students without university entrance qualifications, according to an evaluation published by the Center for Higher Education (CHE) on Monday. This corresponds to a share of 3.7 percent.
This puts Bremen in third place nationwide, behind Thuringia and Hamburg. Across Germany, the proportion was 2.2 percent. With a share of 2.3 percent, Lower Saxony is only slightly higher and in 10th place in the state-wide ranking. There were a total of 716 students without a high school diploma in 2020.
If you want to study without a high school diploma or technical college entrance qualification, you can apply for a place at university after completing vocational training and providing evidence of professional experience. The CHE is supported by the Bertelsmann Foundation and the German Rectors’ Conference.
