Study, work and live in Canada

The co-op courses are technical training diplomas taught by approved colleges in the country. These courses may vary in terms of their duration, but what does not change is their structure, if for example it is a 1-year course, the first 6 months are the theoretical part of the program where you study the course, normally in the morning, and which allows you to work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week in the afternoon, or on the weekend.

The second part of the program, the other 6 months, this internship period, where the work you do is linked to the course you have developed during the theoretical part, and in this last part of the program you can work full time, and it is usually a paid job.

Co-op courses are named for the agreement that exists between schools and companies to train and work at the same time. As in Australia, this type of course has a lot of prestige in Canada, and is very recognized worldwide.

We must mention that the practical part of the program is mandatory in order to graduate and also that the CO-OP studies component can be applied to degrees that may well range from diplomas, university careers, to some postgraduate degrees.

In this section we can also mention the certified courses, which are very similar to co-ops, only they don’t have the practical part. Here you would work while you study. They are the same type of technical training courses taught by official colleges, therefore, you will be here for the entire time of the student program, and if you want also working.

The main areas of certificate and diploma programs are

  • Administration
  • Marketing and commerce.
  • Banquets and Catering service
  • Advertising and graphic design
  • Web development and mobile applications
