This analysis is on Seniorly consider the impact of inflation on income, rising interest rates, bank closures, and the vulnerability of the social security, using the latest data from the Census Bureau, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Missouri Center for Economic Information and Research.

In New York, the economic situation and work pressure are complicated by high costs. In February a report from Columbia University and the non-profit organization Robin Hood warned against that There were 2 million poor people in New York City, most of them Hispanic and children. Even that one study was calculated $88,000 is the break-even point for a family of four to live in NYC, a figure still above the Consumer Affairs estimate for New York state ($81,396). So around 56% of New Yorkers are below or near the poverty line and many have more than one job.

Half of the families in New York City do not have enough income to survive without help from the government, family or community, warning last March with information about United Way and Fund for the City of New York (FCNY).

The country’s median family income was $70,784 in 2021, according to Census data. And for example What $65,000 could buy in 2018 would require $80,100 in 2023.
