Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA – The core of the earth has a role to protect the planet from wind and solar radiation which is quite dangerous. The iron spinning in the Earth’s outer core produces a magnetic field that surrounds our planet, namely gravity. But according to a new study, now the Earth’s inner core has grown sideways
According to a study published in the journal Nature Geoscience, the Earth’s inner core grows at an angle. The eastern half, which is the eastern half under the Indonesian Banda Sea, produces 60% more iron crystals than in the western position, which is located under Brazil.
Previously, the Earth’s inner core was always growing, increasing by one millimeter every year, when the iron ore in the outer core cooled, and then hardened to form iron crystals.
Although the temperature inside the Earth’s core is very hot and can melt iron, the pressure is strong enough inside the planet to prevent the crystals from melting. Although the Earth is also 4 billion years old, experts suspect the Earth’s core was formed at 1.5 billion years ago.
Frost’s team created a computer model to track the growth of these nuclei, and found that their skewness only appeared when the inner cores formed. This tilted core growth may also have an impact on the Earth’s magnetic field and gravity also has a role in compensating for this asymmetrical growth to push out excess crystals, so that the Earth retains its spherical physique.

From the research, Frost’s team still doesn’t know specifically why the iron crystals can form evenly. But what is assumed is the influence of the layer above the earth’s core, which is where the tectonic plates float. When one plate pushes up, sinks, or sinks, there is a subducting plate that cools the area outside the core.
From this phenomenon, it could affect the gravity aspect of the earth, and could have an impact on the energy in the earth so that it can rotate, which also becomes energy in protecting the earth. Until now, Team Frost is also not sure that this phenomenon will change the strength of the magnet, and will investigate the answer.
