The expert conducted the experiment for a month
Even healthy vegetables can affect your blood sugar levels. According to nutritionist Pamela Nisevich Bede, monitoring glucose levels is not only necessary for diabetics. Blood sugar has been proven to affect everyone’s energy levels, sleep, and well-being.
The expert conducted a study using a biosensor to measure her blood glucose level for a month to understand how the body reacts to a particular product. It turned out that sharp jumps in blood sugar occurred even when eating healthy foods.
One of these products turned out to be carrots. Raw or cooked, it caused spikes in sugar levels because it has a high glycemic index. Only in combination with non-starchy vegetables, proteins and fats, this problem was not so obvious.
Contrary to popular belief, sweet berries such as raspberries and blueberries did not cause a sharp increase in glucose levels: it remained stable after eating the berries. This is due to the low glycemic index of these products. Along with pomegranate, grapefruit and pear, raspberries and blueberries did not negatively affect blood glucose levels.
According to the nutritionist, each body reacts differently to a particular product, so it is recommended to approach the choice of diet individually. Also, according to her, physical exercise helps lower blood glucose levels.
