More than 10,000 people were surveyed by scientists to identify the main symptoms they experience during a prolonged form of coronavirus infection

In addition to known symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue, body aches have also been added to the list. Next, the scientists divided the volunteers into three groups to determine the prevalence of these symptoms. The first group included people who associated the symptoms directly with the coronavirus, the second included those who associated them with other respiratory infections, and the third included those who did not attribute the symptoms to these diseases.

The results of the study showed that the first group was the most numerous. However, scientists have also discovered an interesting fact – there is a longer form of ARVI, in which the negative consequences for the body last much longer. Signs of this form of long-term illness include diarrhea, abdominal pain and cough. Even 10 weeks after the infection was diagnosed, patients were still experiencing these symptoms. Scientists plan to continue research to better understand the long-term form of flu or colds, since the diagnosis of such conditions is complicated by the lack of precise terms.
