Düsseldorf (dpa). Broken roads and bridges, dilapidated schools, underfunded hospitals, lack of housing and climate protection: According to a study commissioned by the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB NRW), North Rhine-Westphalia would have to invest 156 billion euros over the next ten years to make the country future-proof. There is a “huge investment backlog” in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is at the expense of regional competitiveness and the establishment of new jobs, said DGB state chairwoman Anja Weber on Thursday at the presentation of the study in Düsseldorf.
