Study reveals high percentage of job seeker controls are random: France Travail Report

Almost half (45%) of the surveys related to occupations in shortage, more than one in four (26%) were random and 15% followed a report from a jobseeker’s adviser, according to a report which was published by France Travail. “When the control is applied at random, active search and recovery is a concern for nearly 91% of job seekers,” the group said.

On the other hand, “the controls carried out at the request of the reference consultant reach the highest level of listing”: 43% of the controls closed in 2023.

17% are looking for permanent employment

Six months after the surveys carried out in 2022, 49% of applicants had found work, but only long-term employment (permanent contract or fixed term of six months or more) in 17% of cases . During an investigation, “all work investigation methods or actions aimed at taking over, creating or developing a business” will be investigated, details France Travail in their press release.

The terms of the work study controls will come forward in 2025 according to the “full employment” law., with the establishment of “a system in which the general behavior of the job seeker is assessed according to a set of multiple indices”. This development will be the subject of a test in eight regions: Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, Réunion, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

At the beginning of March, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal wanted to “accelerate” France Travail’s controls on job seekers, especially in professions with shortages, will triple by 2027, going from 500,000 a year to 1.5 million.
