Study Reveals Factors That Make Long Covid Patients Experience Mental Health Problems

The current study looked at all of these factors to explore the mental health of people with long-standing Covid, with a particular focus on anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), along with brain fog.

The study is a qualitative study that was published in the open journal MedRxiv in early October.

The researcher relied on interviews with 21 people who claimed to have had Covid for a long time, from various ethnic backgrounds, ages, and genders.

Interviews were conducted between November 2020 and September 2021, in the 26-70 year age group.

Two of the three participants were women, and an equal proportion were white Britons.

All had been infected after February 2020 and before January 11, 2021, with an average of 12 symptoms lasting an average of 29 weeks at the date of the interview.

Fatigue is the most common, followed by muscle pain and weakness, shortness of breath, and difficulty concentrating or forgetfulness.

It is also known that about half of the participants were confirmed positive Covid-19, but only four were hospitalized for the initial infection.
