Study Ranks Hialeah as the Least LGBTQ-Friendly City in the US, According to LawnStarter Magazine

MIAMI. – A study carried out by the magazine LawnStarterspecialized in garden landscaping, states that Hialeah it is the least friendly city with the community LGBTQ+, from a list of the 200 largest cities in the US.

LawnStarter published this Monday, June 12, a list in which Hialeah occupies the worst place. The study evaluated four key categories, equity and community support, affordability, access to healthcare, and pride. Within them 20 indicators.

The best rated cities were San Francisco, California; Washington DC and Seattle, Virginia.

In the equality category, the Municipal Equality Index was scored, the state equality index, it was evaluated if the state had passed any Anti-Transgender law, if it had approved any “Dont Say Gay” law, whose real name is “Law of the Right of Parents in Education”, and the Relationship and Acknowledgment of Paternity (LGBTQ+).

For its part, in the Community Support category, the survey made a metric of the number of homes per 1,000 where people of the same sex live, the existence of support centers and resources for the LGBTQ+ community in 100,000 inhabitants, the existence of Support Groups LGBTQ+ support, presence of the LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce and LGBTQ+ charitable and non-profit organizations.

The Pride category counted the number of events held by the LGBTQ+ community in a city, the number of Gay bars and clubs per 100,000 residents, LGBTQ+-friendly accommodation per 100,000 residents, and the number of restaurants and shops with gender-neutral bathrooms.

This year, LawnStarter He also published other studies such as the best cities for single parents to live in, the best cities for nude biking, the best cities for hiking, the best cities for biking, and the best cities for gluten-free food, among others.

Every year, Hialeah celebrates Hialeah Pride, a festive event where the LGBTQ+ community has a space safely.
