Researchers at Oxford University have identified a high-risk gene found in 60 percent of people with South Asian backgrounds and in 15 percent of those with European but only two percent of those with African-Caribbean backgrounds and 1.8 percent of those from East Asia, writes the BBC.
According to the researchers, vaccines can dramatically reduce the risk of becoming seriously ill for those who carry the gene.
