Study Finds Municipal Companies in Cities are Insufficiently Managed

There is a lot of money at stake, a lot in fact: the value of the public companies owned by the cities is more than 9 billion Swiss francs. That means: This is how high the added administrative assets of all municipal electricity plants, waste incineration plants, bus companies and nursing homes are owned by the city. “And that’s a cautious, rather conservative estimate,” says Roger Sonderegger, an expert on governance issues at state-owned companies.
