Sea lion or surfer, it makes no difference
To carry out their study, researchers from the bottom of the bowl took pictures and videos of sea lions and fur seals, a delicacy for sharks, which would pass near the surface, up to several meters above recording sharks. They then compared their signals with swimmers and surfers paddling with their hands, and with or without kicks, on the three main types of surfboards (longboard, shortboard and hybrid). The conclusion is clear: From a young withaai’s point of view, the movement signals of a swimmer such as a surfer paddling his board are almost indistinguishable from a sea lion or a sea lion, a sea lion.
