studies show that they encourage empathy, creativity and reading

If you are one of those who believe that video games make people violent, then you need to read these studies urgently.

It has long been believed that video games can have a bad influence on those who play them, but this is usually said with no real studies to back it up and by people who have never been close to a game.

Fortunately we now have a real study that confirms the positive way in which video games affect those who play them.

More benefits than it seems

Many of the video games on the market put us in the shoes of heroes who must do whatever is in their power to save humanity or the galaxy itself. It is through these missions of heroism that we have managed to do great feats that range from the most basic to help a man to recover his chickens that escaped from a pen to defend someone who is being beaten in an alley by a group of criminals.

It turns out that all of the above not only stays in games, but this is also reflected in the attitudes that gamers have in real life.

According to a study by the National Literacy Trust of the United Kingdom, video games can bring the following benefits to people:

  • Give young people a route into reading and writing
  • Improve confidence in reading skills in young people
  • Attract people thanks to stories
  • Give positive support to communication with family and friends
  • Increase empathy and good behavior
  • Encourage people with poor readers to read

This is certainly a complete departure from the mistaken belief that video games make people violent and makes it clear to us that it is the opposite, since they make us empathic with the other people around us.
