The researchers found that only 16.5 percent of the children studied had respiratory problems, despite the fact that Covid-19 is considered a respiratory disease.

What’s more, only 18.8 percent of pediatric patients reported symptoms such as muscle pain, joint pain, general malaise, loss of taste or smell.

Meanwhile, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea were found in 13.9 percent of pediatric patients. Headache symptoms and other neurological symptoms occurred in less than 5 percent of the children studied. About 8 percent develop skin rashes and other dermatological problems due to viruses.

Those between the ages of 5 and 17 only account for 10.2 percent of all confirmed Covid-19 cases in the United States. Meanwhile, children aged 0 to 4 years amount to about 2 percent.

“Overall, our findings suggest that children and adolescents may have a milder course of disease compared to adults with Covid-19. Given the high prevalence of non-specific signs and symptoms and the fact that the majority of patients have no characteristic symptoms in their patients, “said the researchers quoted from Fox News.
