Students Unveil Unique Volkswagen Taigun Pickup Transformation: A Game-Changer in Automotive Design

A team of students worked on an unprecedented project, transforming the famous Volkswagen SUV into a pickup.

The technologies available today allow us to create unique projects that will surprise the whole world. This was done by some students who converted a Volkswagen Taigun into a pickup truck. We did not miss the name of this car, which may be a real novelty for some, but which in reality has been there for three years. The Taigun is actually an SUV produced starting from 2021, which the Wolfsburg company sells only on the Indian market.

At first, the Taigun was supposed to be a small car based on the small up!, but then the project was abandoned, before this name revived for a high-wheeled model. Today, it is a front-wheel drive mid-size crossoverwhich is based on the mechanical structure of the Polo MK6. Let’s see how this Volkswagen has been completely restored, to become a construction that affects the whole world.

Volkswagen, this is the Taigun SUV that will become a pickup

The Volkswagen Taigun is designed and produced in India, and it is only here that this amazing transformation took place. A group of mechatronics students, supported by Skoda and VW India, turned it into a constructionwith a greatly expanded back. As mentioned before, the original Taigun has small overall dimensions, but here the project has been restored to make it an original construction in its form.

Looking at this picture, from the front up to the C-pillar nothing has been changed, while the back is much longer to make room for the cargo boxafter removing the tailgate. However, the loading area does not seem to be special, since the proportions between the front and the rear part do not seem to have been studied in the best way. Various parts of the car have been printed in 3D, and off-road elements also appear starting from the underbody.

LED lights on the roof and additional connection points have been installed. At least, it is certainly a very ambitious projectand the support of Volkswagen and Skoda gives a good impression of what the Teutonic brand itself believed in this idea. At this time, we do not have detailed performance information.
