Students of the last year of Medicine will finish their careers slowed down by the pandemic – Ministry of Public Health of Tucumán

In order to analyze strategies that allow this step, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rossana Chahla, received the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Mateo Martínez, at the Siprosa facilities.

“We want the students to complete their rotations and thus finish their careers. In this way we will also have more doctors available in the health system. We are working towards that and seeing which are the best strategies, both for the students and for the Tucuman society. We have practically everything planned and we will continue working together as from day one. ”, Commented the minister.

For his part, Martínez thanked Dr. Chahla for receiving it and said that they have already agreed on all the steps so that the students can gradually, safely, reintegrate into the training activity of the last period of their careers. “I think this is a big effort by the health system because it would be very easy to say no due to the overload to which it is subjected by this pandemic. However, today’s dialogue was productive, ”he said.

Finally, the dean explained how the students will return to their activities. “Next Monday we would be starting with the first group of students who are going to return to health services at the first level of outpatient care, therefore the risk is lower. A few weeks later they will return to the common hospitalization services and in a third moment, weeks later, it will be to the reference hospitals; as long as epidemiological conditions allow it ”, he closed.

The meeting was also attended by the medical executive secretary of Siprosa, doctor Luis Medina Ruiz, and the academic secretary of the faculty, doctor Liliana Mónica Tefaha.
