In times of Covid-19, students feel very lonely. To find a touch of conviviality and denounce their living conditions, this Tuesday, January 26, 2021, they met at the call of several unions (Union Pirate, Solidaires 35, Army of Dumbledore) in the streets of Rennes, place de la Republic, before the academic inspectorate and the Rectorate.
Not far from 1500 students, accompanied by teachers, beat the pavement to denounce their precariousness, their loneliness, the lack of information and financial means. They were in the street asking for help, meals for one euro throughout the year, face-to-face lessons, odd jobs, rent exemptions …
Faced with psychological distress, faced with financial distress and faced with isolation, the students challenge, criticize and oppose in order to live their student lives in the best possible conditions. “I understand them,” said a passer-by. “In my time, we discussed in the BUs, we fell in love and we feasted. Today, they no longer have the right to anything. They just have the right to work alone in their room. ”
Last Monday, a general assembly in Rennes 2 was held against precariousness and isolation. “It seems vital to us to meet in this very difficult context for young people, between health crisis and freedom-killing laws”, their representatives affirmed. “For the moment, the government response to the problems and demands of the students is non-existent and our demands will not be heard until they are expressed in isolation. We believe that only collective actions can resolve the difficult individual situations we all face. ”
