This was stated by Petar Marinashki from Stamboliyski at the pretrial hearing of the case against him in the Plovdiv District Court. The 20-year-old economics student is accused of negligently causing the deaths of Todor Barakov and Viktor Vassilev in an accident. The victims are 16 and 17 years old.

In the courtroom, the relatives of the deceased boys filed applications to be private prosecutors. They will conduct separate compensation cases.
However, the pretrial hearing was not initiated, as it turned out that the transcript of the indictment was served on Marinka Day earlier, and not more than 7 days ago, as required by law. His lawyer, Yordan Davchev, a former head of the investigation in Plovdiv, received it on the day of the trial. Judge Stanislava Bozeva has set a new date for July 16th.
Before the hearing, more than 50 people protested in front of the Court of Justice. They demanded a fair punishment for the driver accused of killing Victor and Todor.
“Our loss is huge. We’ve been in the cemetery for seven months now. Instead of wishing our son good health, we pray that he may rest in peace. More and more young people allow themselves to drink and shake, and then drive like immortals and bring misfortune, “said Galina Ilcheva, mother of Todor Barakov.
According to her, a legislative change is needed to prevent the release of drivers who have caused death. Petar Marinashki spent 24 hours in custody, after which he was released on bail of BGN 2,000.
“There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in the process. After the accident, a police officer from the Stamboliyski Police Department performed a field drug test on the driver, which turned out to be negative. Barakov Sr. admits that after the tragedy, relations with the Marinashki family, with whom he was previously friends, have strained. He alerted the prosecutor’s office that Peter’s driver’s license had not been confiscated and that he had gotten into his car after his release from custody. After the signal, the police collected his driver’s license. For his part, Marinashki filed a complaint against Barakov Sr. for posting data from the case on social networks and for trying to respect him by driving past his home.
Barakov Sr. is adamant that he did not violate the law in any way – he expressed his position as a blackened father on his Facebook profile. He had not walked around Peter’s house because he lived in Paris.
The severe accident also worsened the relations between the parents of the second victim – Viktor Vassilev, and Marinashki.
“Five days ago, my son Victor had to turn 18. Instead of blowing out the candles at home, I brought the cake to his grave,” said mother Silvia Vakova. Father Vasko Vassilev could barely hold back his tears. He insists on a maximum sentence for Marinashki.
Victor’s classmates from the French high school in Plovdiv also want the heaviest punishment for him. He was in 11th grade when the accident happened.
“I got a call that he was in a coma and in hospital. But then I didn’t think for a second that he would leave. He was always strong and I hoped he would succeed this time as well “, his classmate Inga Frandyan was upset.
Todor Barakov studied until the 8th grade at the same school, but then went to Paris with his father. He trained boxing there and intended to build a sports career.

He said the marijuana found in Peter’s blood was controversial. The young man was adamant that he had not smoked weed during the accident, nor in the previous 4-5 days.
Davchev did not want to specify how he will prove his version in court. He stressed that

According to Marinashki’s lawyer, it was not true that his client had bought a 178-horsepower car to compete. “This is a normal car, not a rally,” Davchev said.
His colleague Antoaneta Nikolova, who defends the interests of Todor Barakov’s family, said that in the 1 year since he had a book, Petar Marinashki has caused two accidents. Fortunately, the damage was only material the first time.
