Student stabbed inside Yonkers School – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – A 16-year-old student was stabbed inside his Yonkers school on Friday morning, local police confirmed.

The teenager would be in stable condition. He was stabbed on the second floor of Yonkers High School.

Two other students, both boys, are in custody, police said. They all live in Yonkers.

“An altercation occurred at Yonkers Middle School this morning between three high school students aged 16 to 17. Yonkers City Police and EMS were dispatched to the school. During the altercation, one student was stabbed and received immediate medical attention from the school nurse. The student is in stable condition and has been transported to a local trauma medical center,” said Jerilynne Fierstein, communications manager, Yonkers Public Schools.

Furthermore, Fierstein clarified that there is no threat to public safety.

“The situation was quickly brought under control by the school staff. There is no threat to public safety. At 9:00 the school resumed normal operations. The school’s student support professionals are available to assist students or staff. There will be additional district staff at the school throughout the day,” Friestein added.

No other details were immediately available.

Yonkers Middle School serves students in grades six through twelfth Rockland Ave.
