What happened is unclear. A doctor has conducted an investigation in Gedinne, where nearly three hundred young people have spent the night. “The investigation is ongoing to establish possible criminal liability,” said the Public Prosecution Service. An autopsy will be performed on the body on Tuesday.

Last summer it was announced that eighteen members of the Flemish student club Reuzegom had to appear in court because of a deadly hazing drama in Leuven at the end of 2018. A 20-year-old student died at the time after thirty hours of humiliation and suffering.

According to justice, the suspects are guilty of, among other things, unintentional manslaughter, inhumane treatment and the deliberate administration of harmful substances, resulting in death. The victim had to consume a lot of alcohol, sit for hours in ice-cold water and drink liters of fish sauce.
