Tamra Demello’s son wanted to get vaccinated in Wilmington
Tamra Demello is heartbroken. Her son was 20 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. Now he’s dead. Tyler Gilreath died of Corona. Demello wants others to be spared this fate and speaks publicly about the tragic loss. For months she had been pleading with her son to get vaccinated – to no avail. Tyler was of the opinion that he was young, healthy and had no previous illness and therefore he did not need the vaccination protection. “When they are 20, you can’t force them to do something they don’t want,” Demello said in an interview with The News & Observer. “I can’t drag him into the car.”
Finally, he agreed to be vaccinated as soon as he was in his second year at university. But it didn’t come to that. According to Demello, her son became infected days after she brought him from her home in Cary to the University in Wilmington. After testing positive on August 20, Tyler developed a fever and suffered from nausea and other symptoms. On September 7th, he seemed to have survived the worst, the symptoms receded and Tyler’s corona test was negative. “We thought he was pretty much over it,” says Demello – but things turned out differently.
