The 32-year-old was due to stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday but pleaded guilty to one charge when he appeared in court.
The father-of-four arrived at Selkirk Sheriff Court accompanied by his parents and admitted one charge of domestic abuse against his estranged wife, Gillian Hogg, between 2019 and 2024.
The former Scotland captain, who plays for French club Montpellier, is due to be sentenced at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on December 5.
Hogg admitted shouting, swearing and behaving abusively towards his wife Gillian.
He also admitted to repeatedly tracking her movements and sending her messages of an alarming and distressing nature. The court heard that Hogg once sent more than 200 messages in two hours.
Selkirk Sheriff Court also heard that Hogg’s behavior left the children’s mother scared and said she ‘wished it would be morning as soon as possible’.

Gillian Hogg eventually received advice from domestic abuse services after an incident that left her with a panic attack.
One of the domestic abuse charges to which Hogg pleaded guilty relates to a five-year period between 2019 and 2024.

Hogg began his professional career with Glasgow Warriors, making over 100 appearances for the club before moving to Exeter Chiefs in 2019.
The former Scotland captain, who has played exactly 100 games for his country and amassed 171 points, joined French side Montpellier in July 2024.
He had announced that he would retire after the World Cup, but unexpectedly announced his retirement from the national rugby team last year.
Hogg was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honors for his services to rugby union football.
