Strzembosz has great experience in maintaining communism

On Tuesday, the president was Bogdan Rymanowski‘s guest on Radio Zet. The journalist asked Andrzej Duda, among others: about allegations that he violated the constitution.

– Professor Adam Strzembosz said that he counted how many times you violated the constitution. He counted to sixteen and then stopped counting, Rymanowski reported.

The president on “sustaining communism”

– Professor Adam Strzembosz is one of the people who are responsible for the fact that in the Polish justice system there are still communist judges tainted by their membership in the Polish United Workers’ Party, and some tainted by issuing sentences during martial law – replied the president.

In his opinion, Strzembosz’s comments on matters of justice at the moment are “at least inappropriate.” – But I understand that he is already an older man – he added.

– An older person has more experience, more knowledge. I guess… – Rymanowski continued when the president interrupted him, saying: – Oh, yes. He has great experience. In maintaining communism, certainly.

Who is prof. Adam Strzembosz

Adam Strzembosz is the former first president of the Supreme Court and former chairman of the National Council of the Judiciary. Years ago, he became famous for saying that “the justice system will cleanse itself” of judges from the Polish People’s Republic.

Since 2015, in his public statements he has criticized the actions of the PiS government during the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal. In 2017, he performed during protests against planned changes in the judiciary. He called on the then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to dismiss the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro.

In May 2023, after Andrzej Duda signed the law establishing a state commission to investigate Russian influence, which the then opposition called “lex Tusk”, Strzembosz criticized the president, arguing that he had “disgraced himself”.
