Jan-Lennard Struff will support the European team at the Laver Cup.

This means that Jan-Lennard Struff could possibly make his debut at the Laver Cup, although the probability is very low. When comparing the European selection team with the “rest of the world”, six players per team are included in the squad. As a substitute, the 34-year-old will attend all training sessions and appointments off the court.

The seventh edition of the competition, invented by Roger Federer and others, is taking place in Berlin this year. In addition to Alexander Zverev, the European selection also includes Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. The world selection is led by the US trio Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton.

Struff recently had injury problems

Jan-Lennard Struff lost to Serbian Laslo Djere in the first round of the US Open. The Warsteiner had previously struggled with injuries since the Olympic Games and recently canceled his participation in the Davis Cup in China. In addition to the winner of the ATP tournament in Munich, the young Italian Flavio Cobolli will also support the European team as a substitute player.

Most recently, the world selection won twice in a row, after Team Europe won the first four matches. Germany is hosting the Laver Cup for the first time, which alternates between Europe and North America every year.
