Stronghold Series Releases Remastered Version of First Game
The strategic series Stronghold may not have reached the fame of its competitor Age of Empires, but many players still prefer it. While it focuses on a narrow slice of history, when it comes to the portrayal of siege warfare, it has no competition even after twenty years since the release of the first installment.
Unfortunately, despite the rapid development of today’s computer capabilities, the developers failed to enrich the original concept, and after the poorly received last installment Warlords (see our review), the future of the series did not look promising. Therefore, the developers are trying one last desperate attempt to save the brand – by releasing a remastered version of the unbeatable first game.
If this classic game still has something to offer today, you can find out for free right now. The demo version is available on Steam, where you can try the tutorial and even two missions from the original campaign, which together offer more entertainment than most installments of the Call of Duty series.
However, be careful, as the demo version will only be available until the end of August for some reason. If you miss it, you will have to wait until November 7th when the full version is released.

Revamped Version of Stronghold Series Launches, Reminiscent of Age of Empires
While Stronghold may not have achieved the same level of fame as its rival Age of Empires, it remains a favorite among many dedicated players. With a laser focus on siege warfare, this strategic series has managed to hold its own even two decades after its initial release.
Yet, as technology rapidly advanced, Stronghold’s developers struggled to enhance the original concept. After the underwhelming response to the most recent installment, Warlords, (read our review here), the future of the series seemed uncertain. In a final bid to save the brand, the developers have taken a desperate leap by releasing a remastered version of the legendary first game.
Curious if this classic still stands up today? Well, you’re in luck! The demo version is currently available on Steam, allowing you to experience the tutorial and even two missions from the original campaign. Trust me, the entertainment value packed into these snippets rivals some of the best moments from the Call of Duty series.
However, here’s the catch: the demo will only be accessible until the end of August for reasons unknown. If you miss out, you’ll have to wait until November 7th when the full version hits the shelves.
