About a thousand of the strongest athletes on the planet took part in the tournament – representatives of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
The Russian team included three representatives of the Krasnodar region – freestyle wrestlers Abdulla Kurbanov (up to 125 kg) and Ekaterina Poleshchuk (up to 55 kg), as well as Greco-Roman wrestler Aues Gonibov (up to 82 kg).
At the end of the tournament, Gonibov won the award. In the fight for third place, he defeated the current world champion, Turk Burhan Akbudak. In addition, Kurbanov, who took fifth place, received an Olympic license, the press service of the regional administration reports.
Previously, Kuban athletes won medals at the championship and all-Russian trampoline competitions.
Krasnodar resident Roman Neudachin took gold in individual jumps. In synchronized jumping, representatives from the Kuban capital won awards – Yana Pavlova won a gold medal, Maria Mikhailova won a silver medal. The best on the acrobatic track was Alexander Lisitsyn from Krasnodar. Galina Begim and Alexander Butko won gold on the double mini-trampoline.
